Mary Voswinkel Memorial Scholarship Recipient
Michelle Bolognini of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is the first recipient of the Mary Voswinkel Memorial Scholarship and received a $750 scholarship. Michelle, a senior with a dual major of criminal justice and sociology and a minor in criminology, will graduate in May 2009. She works as a Community Service Officer with the Rutgers University Division of Public Safety. Her responsibilities include foot patrols through campus, fleet management, bag checker, concert security, and administrative/support services. Jay Kohl, Executive Director of Rutgers' Division of Public Safety stated "It is without question that Michelle is amongst the best and brightest. It is rare to see someone of her age demonstrate such character and dedication to an employer while continuing to place emphasis on her academic course load." Michelle is intrigued by her studies in criminal justice, sociology, and criminology and is interested in those areas as a profession. She has "been captivated by this field because of the humanistic concern she has for people, and wishes to contribute to the alleviation of suffering."
