March 2, 2017: Implementing the 2016 Clery Act Handbook: What We Know, What We Don’t, and What Should You Be Doing Now
1:00 – 2:30 PM Eastern Time Zone
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) published a revised Handbook for Campus Safety and Security Reporting in June 2016. To the surprise of many, the majority of changes included in the Handbook did not originate from the VAWA Final Regulations. Many of the changes have left practitioners with more questions than answers. Join our colleagues from the National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals (NACCOP) as they review key changes to ED guidance and strategies for getting into compliance with the new requirements with a review of what has been learned since the Handbook went into effect last summer.
Dolores Stafford, Executive Director of NACCOP
Michael DeBowes, Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives for NACCOP
April 6, 2017 - Going Further Than Title IX and Clery Compliance — Responding to Intimate Partner Violence on Campus
1:00 – 2:30 PM Eastern Time Zone
To Register Today Click Here
This webinar addresses institutional compliance with Title IX and the Clery Act in the context of intimate partner violence (IPV) with a connection to campus. The presenter will cover basic elements of Clery Act statistical capture, compilation and required policies and Title IX considerations, especially with respect to cross-campus coordination. The coercive control of people in relationships will be put forward as a model through which both campus law enforcement and student conduct should frame the factfinding process. Promising practices in responding to IPV through identification of the nature of the violence in a relationship will be reviewed with key points applicable to dispatch, patrol, and investigators; as well as housing, student affairs, and campus discipline professionals.
