Crime Prevention Officer Douglas Boortz, Florida State University

Officer Douglas Boortz has been a critical and important contributor to the success of traffic safety programs at FSUPD over the last year. He has accomplished the following through his efforts:

  • He has developed operational plans for DUI Checkpoints, and personally staffed nearly all of the Checkpoints.
  • He is always the first to volunteer for special or extra duty assignments and can be counted on to fulfill any assignment with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • He has spearheaded traffic calming safety measures on and around the Florida State University Campus.
  • Officer Boortz coordinates the Adopt a Cop Officers for all of the FSU residence Halls on Campus and often gives of his own time to ensure that officers meet with success.
  • He also is the RAD Coordinator and has developed the two sections of RAD for Credit on Florida State University just this past fall.
  • He is also the coordinator of the FSU Citizens Police Academy.

He is often called by name from students when crossing the campus and it is obvious that he is held in high esteem by both students and colleagues. His effort, enthusiasm and drive deserve to be recognized.
