Officer Yvonne Meyer, Parkland College

Officer Yvonne MeyerOfficer Yvonne Meyer was appointed to a new position as College Relations Officer to engage students and reduce incidents on campus. She continually demonstrates her professionalism and is held in high regard by peers. Officer Meyer is an active RAD instructor and the RAD coordinator. She also volunteers to teach classes in the community. She is a Critical Incident Team Member with special training to recognize and work with mentally ill persons.

Officer Meyer has received a number of awards and recognition for her achievements, including the Life Saving Award for her active involvement in assisting a patient having a heart attack; the Merit Award from Parkland College for her work with the RAD program; a Commendation Award for outstanding work ethic and evaluations; and recognition for her work with international students.

She is involved in community service activities and serves as a volunteer for the adult diversion committee, alcohol enforcement with the local municipality, and works with the sexual assault awareness group.

Officer Meyer represents her department in public speaking engagements and writes a weekly article for the college newspaper on topics such as traffic safety reminders, personal safety tips and new local and state laws.

Officer Meyer was nominated by Von Young, Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police at Parkland College.
