2017 Award for Merit

Lieutenant Thomas Calucci, University of Texas-San Antonio

The IACLEA Award for Merit is presented to an employee of an IACLEA institutional member of a campus public safety, police, or security department who each day displays professionalism and excellence in performing his/her duties or whose actions and attitude bring credit to the campus law enforcement community.

This year’s Award for Merit is presented to Lieutenant Thomas Calucci of the University of Texas at San Antonio Police Department.  Serving the UTSA community for over 16 years, Lt. Calucci extensive portfolio includes the Department’s Accreditation program, the communications center, community affairs, professional standards and all of this while serving as the Co-Chair of the university’s Behavioral Intervention Team.  Whether it was most recently navigating his department’s 3^rd successful IACLEA accreditation or managing the significant threat assessment caseload at the University, Lt. Calucci steadfastly upholds the Department’s motto…Protecting Your Future…today.  For his work, Lt. Calucci has been consistently honored by his employees, his colleagues, his university community and now today, by our association.
