About IACLEA

IACLEA LogoThe International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) is the largest professional association devoted to excellence in campus public safety and law enforcement. Our members are police chiefs, public safety directors, law enforcement officers, and security personnel at higher education institutions who are responsible for protecting millions of students worldwide.

Our members enjoy the knowledge and camaraderie of a global network of campus public safety experts, who share best practices, solve problems, and set standards for the profession. IACLEA has done this for more than 60 years—making IACLEA the leading authority for campus public safety.

IACLEA was created by 11 college and university security directors who met in November of 1958 at Arizona State University to discuss job challenges and mutual problems and to create a clearinghouse for information on issues that campus public safety directors across the country share. Today, IACLEA has 9,000+ memberships, currently filled by 4,000 leaders in campus public safety representing by 1,000+ higher education institutions in 31 countries.

Our signature programs include:

Training: IACLEA's Annual Conference features a first-class educational program, networking, and products and services exposition. With its Training on Request offerings, IACLEA has flipped the traditional training model upside down and made it easier and more affordable to participate in IACLEA’s expanding campus public safety training opportunities. See an IACLEA training you like, but can’t make it? Or want training for numerous people in your agency—but don’t have the budget to fly people all over the country? IACLEA may be able to bring in-person or virtual training to you. You do the on-the-ground work: assemble the participants, secure a location, set up the venue. We send the trainer, at a greatly reduced cost than sending numerous people to training locations.

Accreditation: IACLEA Accreditation constitutes the recognition that a department conforms to the highest professional standards for campus law enforcement and protective services.

Government Relations: IACLEA members provide their expertise to federal, state, and local lawmakers, policymakers, and federal administration representatives. As experts in campus public safety, we strive to ensure policy at all levels helps us keep our officers and communities safe.

Communications & Publications: The Association's quarterly Campus Law Enforcement Journal is the premier professional publication for campus public safety officials. The Bulletin is a weekly newsletter distributed to members on Wednesdays. Please also visit our Newsroom on our website for the latest updates. IACLEA is active on social media to inform our members and share their achievements. And Association leaders are frequently quoted in the media.
