Lisa Phillips, IACLEA's first Director of Government and External Relations, died on Oct 13 after a long illness.
"IACLEA mourns the passing of Lisa Phillips," President Randy Burba said. "As we reflect on Lisa's passing, IACLEA is profoundly grateful for her contributions to the growth and success of the Association's government relations program. Thanks to Lisa's diligence and dedication, IACLEA now has a seat at the table when federal policy makers consider legislation or regulations that have an impact on campus public safety and higher education. She elevated the status of our government relations program and she did so with dignity, thoughtfulness, and conscientious devotion."

Her accomplishments included working with the Board to create an annual Capitol Hill Day and Congressional Champion Award and building support among Congress for the National Center for Public Safety, which was created in 2013.
She received a bachelor of arts degree from Vassar College in 1971 and a masters degree from Georgetown University in 1989. Phillips served for many years as a professional staff member of the Housing and Employment Subcommittee of the House of Representatives Government Operations Committee.
