IACLEA Announcement: Pat Patton Named as 2016 Security Director of the Year by Canadian Security magazine

IACLEA is pleased to congratulate Patricia Patton, Director of Security and Operations for Facility Management at the University of Regina, for being recognized as the 2016 Security Director of the Year by Canadian Security magazine, President Randy Burba announced today.

Patton, whose security career has spanned 30 years, is the Canada Region Director on the IACLEA Board of Directors. She has also served on the Awards & Recognition Committee and the Annual Conference Review Task Force.

The magazine's editorial board selected Patton for a variety of reasons, including her role in championing the Man Up Against Violence program at the university. Another factor was that Patton's award nomination was submitted on behalf of the university's entire executive team.

The Man Up Against Violence program started about three years ago in the university's kinesiology department, led by faculty instructor Roz Kelley. Patton joined the program's advisory board as vice chair and has been instrumental in its success, according to Kelley.

The initiative is aimed at highlighting the prevalence of violence in Saskatchewan, and the role that all citizens can play in the education of, and reduction in, violent offenses. The initiative is sponsored in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Services, Status of Women Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Parks, Culture, and Sport.
