West Hartford, CT (July 15, 2015)
For the third consecutive year, IACLEA has partnered with the Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO), the primary association for Security Professionals working in Universities, Colleges and Institutions of Higher and Further Education in the UK and Europe to sponsor an International Exchange Program to further the relationship between institutions across the world.
IACLEA is pleased to announce that Captain Kevin R. Cleveland of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee has been selected to participate in the exchange. Vanderbilt is a medium sized private university, and has experience with common realities of American universities such as: on-campus fraternities, residence halls, as well as policing an urban campus open to the public and regularly handling large-scale events. Additionally, Vanderbilt has a 1,100 bed hospital, which offers a unique set of challenges and opportunities for serving the community.
AUCSO has selected Elizabeth Palicza of London South Bank University (LSBU) as its 2015 representative. LSBU is particularly interested in showcasing how the institution deals with student mental health issues, student radicalization, drug misuse and dealing, as well as how the University Security team works in partnership with the police and the schools health and safety team.
This year, IACLEA received the largest number of applications, since the launch of the Exchange in 2013, and is pleased that there is a growing interest in the program. Participants will document their experiences in future issues of the Campus Law Enforcement Journal.
