Executive Director's Message, December 2018

As the year winds down, it’s an appropriate time to recap some of IACLEA’s recent successes—many of them due to you, our members. Foremost: from August 2016 to now, Association membership has doubled. We relocated the Headquarters from West Hartford, Connecticut, to Silver Spring, Maryland.  We transitioned from management company to fulltime, in-house employees. Now, because of the growth in membership and programs, we are adding three new positions—and we moved…again! 

With the onboarding of new staff members, we have outgrown the office space that we settled into just 18 months ago.  What a great problem to have!   Fortunately, there was space available in our current building—just one floor up.  So only the suite number will change. The entire address is 1110 Bonifant Street, Suite 330, Silver Spring, MD. 20910.  Our email, website, and phone numbers will stay the same. 

The three new personnel will support our growing programs and operations to ensure we can better serve you.  An office manager will be added to assist with our growing office admin function, as well as data clean-up, new member communications, and basic financial transactions.  A professional services project coordinator will support the extensive logistics of the Accreditation, PReP, and management and technical assistance areas.  Finally, we will add a program associate to support the growing areas of Government and External Relations, Communications, and Training. 

We are gearing up for 2019. We will start the new year with a new institute for First-Line Supervisors.  This is a program member requested—and so we will deliver!  February will bring our Executive Development Institute, hosted at Florida State University. 

We will continue to pursue new endeavors to increase value for your membership.  We are excited about the creation of the Global Center for Campus Public Safety.  The Board was extremely visionary in creating the Center.  There will be much more to report about development of the Center as 2019 unfolds.
