IACLEA Statement on the Uvalde Shooting
May 25, 2022
The loss of human life is always tragic, but it impacts us differently when children are victimized. What we witnessed yesterday in Uvalde, Texas was an all too familiar scene, and the feeling of despair can be overwhelming. IACLEA joins the nation as we mourn the loss of so many lives taken at such a young age. We pray for the families and friends of the victims and are so very grateful for the police officers that put themselves in harms way to save countless more lives.
“This was such a sad and tragic day for our nation,” said IACLEA President Patrick Ogden. “This is a stark reminder of the evil that exists in this world. I ask our members and all law enforcement to remain vigilant when it comes to protecting our campuses and schools, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for the work they do on a daily basis.”
