The Leading Authority For Campus Public Safety

Capitol Hill Day 2013

Capitol Hill Day 2013

A government snow day and canceled flights couldn't keep IACLEA members from heading to the U.S. Capitol on March 7, 2013. The sun was out as members spread out to visit Congressional members and their staff as they sought support for a National Center for Campus Public Safety and Equity in Programs and Benefits. The following week, on March 14, 2013, the Attorney General Eric Holder announced that he would authorize the establishment of a National Center for Campus Public Safety within the US Department of Justice. Thank you to all of those who attended.

The purpose of the annual Capitol Hill Day is to educate key Congressional Members and staff regarding legislation that is important to campus public safety. IACLEA members meet with their Congressional Representatives and share with their elected officials the priorities and challenges facing campus public safety departments. Capitol Hill Day is held in March of each year. In addition to the Congressional visits, IACLEA presents the Congressional Champion Award each year to a Member of Congress in recognition of support for campus public safety.  Attendance at the Capitol Hill Day is restricted to IACLEA Institutional, Professional, and Associate Members.

Thank you again for your support!
