Congratulations to Officer Trevor Sherbert, University of South Carolina Upstate (Spartanburg), for being selected IACLEA’s Southeast Region Officer of the Year. He received the honor during IACLEA’s Southeast Regional Conference, which was held at North Carolina State University in March. This recognition serves to highlight outstanding achievement among individual officers, encourage individual and departmental efforts toward the furtherance of excellent service, and promote the goals of campus law enforcement fostering effective police-community relations. Officer Sherbert exemplifies all of these.
In nominating Officer Sherbert, Assistant Chief David Myers, University of South Carolina Upstate, said, “Officer Sherbert has been one of the most proactive officers in our department and exceeded the expected performance by a wide margin. Officer Sherbert has far exceeded the efforts of his peers and achieved remarkable results in removing narcotics and weapons from campus, based upon his self-initiated activity and his willingness to go above and beyond in his diligence to enforce the laws of the state of South Carolina and the policies of the University of South Carolina Upstate.”
When asked about the recognition, Officer Sherbert said, “I feel absolutely honored and grateful to have been selected. I am blessed to work for such an overwhelmingly supportive university administration and police command staff. Effective community policing and criminal enforcement work ethic being recognized is always a great thing. With that said, my name may be recognized, but I could not have achieved any of the accomplishments without the support of my team in the field and my fiancé at home. Those are the real winners in my book.”
