Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Security Guard.
Primary Job Duties: Under direct supervision, perform routine security activities to assigned buildings, occupants, and visitors; responds to routine inquiries; and other duties as assigned. Patrols buildings and grounds and notifies appropriate personnel when problems and life safety threats arise. Completes logs and basic reports as instructed. Interacts with campus community. Maintains communication with appropriate personnel utilizing equipment such as two-way radios and telephones. Assigned to events for security and parking details.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Must possess a valid Maryland non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license with 5 or less points for moving violations.
Basic computer skills required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; to complete basic reports; to detect situations imperiling life, safety, and property; to perform extensive sitting, standing, and walking; to communicate effectively; to operate two way radios and telephones.
Preferred Qualifications: At least 1 year prior security experience preferred.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, Contingent II (long-term contractual), position with a limited benefits package including medical, prescription, dental, paid leave, tuition remission and more. Starting salary will be $15.64 per hour which is approximately $32,621 annually. After successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, there is a 2.5% pay increase for new hires or internal promotions. This position is also considered essential meaning the position is expected to report for work in emergency situations such as extreme weather conditions when the campus may be closed. This position is also considered Sensitive Personnel and therefore has a substantially significant degree of responsibility for the safety of others and there is a potential that impaired performance in this position could result in death of or injury to the employee or others.
