It is with profound grief and a heavy heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the untimely passing of our esteemed colleague and friend, Dr. Jessica Luedtke. Jessica, who served as a director-at-large on the IACLEA Board and as the Associate Director of Public Safety at the Medical College of Wisconsin, left us far too soon.

For over 25 years, Jessica dedicated herself tirelessly to the mission of IACLEA and the broader realm of campus public safety. Her commitment, wisdom, and unwavering support profoundly impacted our association, and the many members’ lives she touched throughout her admirable career.

In these moments of sorrow, it has been a source of solace to witness the outpouring of support, kind words, and shared memories from so many of you. This unity reflects the strength and compassion of our community, qualities that Jessica championed every day. As we navigate through these challenging times, I humbly ask for your continued prayers and thoughts for the entire campus law enforcement and public safety community as we come to terms with this immense loss.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Jessica’s family, friends, and the dedicated men and women of the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Public Safety. Your pain is shared by all of us in the IACLEA community, and we stand with you in your grief.

IACLEA will host a virtual Celebration of Life for Jessica on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. This gathering will be an opportunity for us to share stories, memories, and support each other in this time of profound sadness. Details of this event, including the link to join, will be shared in a forthcoming announcement.

To honor Jessica's remarkable life and legacy, I have commissioned the creation of an award to honor Jessica’s passion of campus law enforcement and public safety accreditation. The annual award will be named the Dr. Jessica Luedtke Excellence in IACLEA Accreditation Leadership Award. Details of this award will be forthcoming in an announcement.

Jessica's departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts and our association. Her dedication to campus safety, her passion for mentoring others, and her kind spirit will be forever remembered. As we mourn the loss of a truly remarkable board member and colleague, let us also celebrate the honor and distinction with which she served our association.
