Officer Memorial Video Updated

IACLEA is proud to honor all fallen campus public safety officers. The Association produced a powerful video in 2017, following a moving ceremony at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.

During Police Week 2018, we re-released the video to include the two line-of-duty-deaths that occurred in 2017: Cpl. Monty Dale Platt, West Texas A&M University PD (end of watch: August 8, 2017) and Officer Floyd East, Jr., Texas Tech University PD, (end of watch: October 9, 2017).

Recently, Chief Matt Welch of Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Texas, informed us that there has been a historical addition to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial wall this year. Patrolman WA Hail died on December 13, 1978, and his name was added this year to both the memorial in Washington, DC, and Austin, Texas.

With these officers’ deaths, the number of fallen campus public safety officers killed in the line of duty 1923–present is 46. And may it remain so.

The IACLEA Officer Memorial Video has been updated to include Officer Hail in the roll call of fallen officers. You can learn more about the Officer Memorial here

We encourage you to play and share the video to honor these fallen heroes.
