An Update on IACLEA’s Search for its Next Executive Director

A couple weeks ago, on Oct. 12, IACLEA President Patrick Ogden alerted members by email about how John Bernhards had made the decision to retire at the end of this year as IACLEA's executive director, with a news release posting a day later. And just last week, John sent you a personal email himself as he reflected on his time leading the Association. His note will also be featured in the next edition of the Campus Law Enforcement Journal, due out in mid-November.

Today, a detailed job description for IACLEA's next executive director posted; click here to read it and to understand the application process.  “As you review it, I ask you to consider whether you or other exemplary campus public safety administrators may be the right leader for IACLEA,” said IACLEA President Patrick Ogden.

Additionally, a search committee for a new executive director has been formed, of which Ogden leads the charge. The other members include the Board’s Executive Committee (VP of Finance Paul Dean, Immediate Past President Eric Heath, and President-Elect John Ojeisekhoba), as well as Mid-America Regional Director Helen Haire, Director-At-Large L.A. Webb, and Director of Meetings, Membership & Business Development Elizabeth Welsh.

The search committee invites all members to review the job posting and consider whether you or an associate with outstanding vision, management skills, and commitment to campus public safety would make a first-rate candidate. It seeks a diverse pool of highly qualified candidates. Please circulate the announcement via state, local, and other professional networks in which you participate. Please note: The search committee is accepting applications from today until Nov. 21.

“This group and I will begin reviewing resumes as soon as we receive them. We aim to start conducting interviews in December and January, with the goal of selecting a new executive director in early 2022,” Ogden said. “Please stay tuned to IACLEA communications as details emerge and we have more news to share.”
