This class is designed for those agencies that are non-sworn or do not investigate sexual assault criminally from start to finish. The basics of the realities of sexual violence on campus, what a trauma-informed response actually looks like, Title IX and tips for working collaboratively will be covered. Meet the Presenter:

Josh Bronson is currently the Director of Training for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). In this role, he develops and facilitates training and programs on a variety of topics geared towards campus public safety and police. He is also responsible for maintaining close working relationships with other organizations, and for developing and maintaining an investigator section within IACLEA.

Since 2014, Mr. Bronson has been an instructor/subject matter expert for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Gender-Based Violence Initiative and East Central University’s Safety Training and Technical Assistance for Administrators, Boards, and Law Enforcement (STTAABLE) Program, instructing on topics such as Title IX, campus sexual assault, creating partnerships, and trauma-informed sexual assault investigations.

Until May 2014, he was the Assistant Director of Campus Safety/Deputy Chief of Campus Police at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. He started his career in campus law enforcement in 2001 at McDaniel (then Western Maryland) College as a Safety Officer, and rose through the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, to his last rank of Captain/Deputy Chief. During his tenure at McDaniel, he oversaw training, IT, investigations, special services, and crime prevention, along with many other areas. He was also the Title IX Investigator for McDaniel College, investigating all reports of gender-based violence and/or harassment.

Until June of 2017, Mr. Bronson was the Assistant Director of the Office of Civil Rights & Sexual Misconduct and the Lead Special Investigator at the University of Maryland, College Park. In this role, he investigated all reports of sexual assault/harassment, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. Mr. Bronson developed a training program on rape culture and has trained a wide variety of national audiences, from law enforcement to high school students. He has also conducted police academy instruction at the Maryland Police Training Commission Police Academy for the past 7 years as well as the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police Academy and the Metropolitan Police Department (Washington D.C.) on sexual assault investigations for the initial responding officer.
